Started in 2002 as the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts' technical department in Bangalore, the division soon grew into its own and was set up as an independent unit in the year 2006.

TransMedia's mission is to enable the use of cutting-edge technology in performances in India at affordable prices. The unit strives to bring Indian performances on par with international productions by providing access to the best in technology.

TransMedia does not merely function as a service and equipment provider but also actively seeks to promote access to technology for young artistes. This is done by subsidizing costs as well as working creatively with young artistes to improve their work in terms of stage presentations.

The division also runs Attakkalari's Media Lab and the Experimental Theatre Lab, non-profit initiatives that work towards providing space, technology and guidance to young artistes.

In addition to this, workshops in stage technologies are conducted on demand.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with TransMedia on our recent tour of India. Our technical demands were high and TransMedia were able to help us realise our design needs with efficiency and professionalism.
