Media Lab

The Media Lab houses the latest editing hardware and software. The lab aims to make technology more accessible to the performing arts community and young filmmakers and thereby improve the quality of the resulting products.

The short term goal of the lab is to cater to the students of Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media. In the long term, the Media Lab aims to be a competitive player in the editing market. The lab is funded by the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts and operated by TransMedia Technologies.

Experimental Lab

TransMedia also encourages upcoming, young artistes in their work by providing them with the Experimental Theatre Lab - a space where performance art practitioners can gather to explore new designs in light, sound and video.

The primary objective of the lab is to promote the use of new technical designs and to expand the volume of experimental practitioners in Bangalore. The lab also serves to bring together artistes to explore new work opportunities and works as a forum for discussion on performance technology.

It has been a pleasure to see TransMedia from it's birth to the level to which it's now grown. While my interaction with the organisation has been minimal (solely due to my recession from the performing space into the corporate world), I have worked closely with the team in the days prior to the TransMedia spin off from Attakalari. And I have to say that Vilson and his team are possibly the most helpful, friendly and driven people when it comes to helping make your performance better. Whether it be last minute orders for a profile or low budgets or suggestions on what could work for this scene, it was all done. It's the stellar work ethic they displayed that makes them stand out in my memory.
